The actress said that upon reading the script, she felt sorry for Lee Yoo Mi; however, as the story progresses, she sympathized with her character.

Moreover, she mentioned how she understood why Lee Yoo Mi had to pretend and hoped that her lies would not be found out'' adding, I thought it was a character worth watching.

Anna is based on the novel Intimate Stranger written by Jeonghan Ah. It follows the story of a mysterious woman named Lee Yoo Mi who created her alter ego which she named Anna Lee.

Bae Suzy described her character as someone who has a lot of things she wants to do and is good at it.

Since playing a dual role is a different experience from her previous Kdramas, she shared that she paid attention to the changes in her role's psychological process and ensured that the viewers would feel it.

Meanwhile, Kim Joon Han plays Yoo Mi's ambitious husband, Ji Hoon, and Park Ye Young is Ji Won, Yoo Mi's trusted friend.

The press conference comes ahead of the Anna release, which will hit the small screens on June 24, airing every Friday via Coupang Play.Set in a fictional country called Daeho, the series is about the love and growth of young mages as they overcome their twisted fates due to a forbidd magic spell known as the alchemy of souls, which allows souls to switch bodies.

In January 2021, Park Hye-su's agcy revealed that the actress auditioned for Alchemy of Souls. In June, it was announced that actor Joo Sang-wook was offered a role in the series.

The female lead role was first confirmed to be played by Park Hye-eun [ko]. However, in July 2021, she decided to leave the series after a mutual agreemt with the production team. It was stated that although Park is a rookie actress, she prepared hard for the series, but felt a lot of pressure about playing the main character of a big project.

The role was th offered to actress Jung So-min. Jung and director Park Joon-hwa previously worked together in 2017 TV series Because This Is My First Life.

After the d of part 1 in August 2022, the female lead actress Jung So-min was replaced by Go Youn-jung for part 2, after she previously portrayed the original idtity for Jung's character in a cameo in part 1.

In August 2021, production companies Studio Dragon and High Quality signed an agreemt with Mungyeong City to build a filming site in Maseong-myeon worth ₩5 billion for the production of Alchemy of Souls.

On October 6, 2021, it was announced that filming of the series was canceled for that week after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on the morning of the 5th.
